Frequently Asked Questions
Real questions. Honest answers. Find out what the Harlequin Experience involves, what you can expect, and whether it feels like the right next step for you.
The Harlequin Experience is not just something you understand; it is something you experience for yourself. These answers can give you a clearer picture, but the experience itself is where the learning becomes personal.
Understanding the Harlequin Experience
What is the Harlequin Experience all about?
The Harlequin Experience is about the things many of us were never taught: how our choices shape our lives, what responsibility really looks like, how our behaviour creates our results, and who we are underneath the patterns we have been living in.
Many people find themselves reacting, repeating familiar patterns and wondering why different situations keep leading to similar outcomes. The experience creates an opportunity to see why things may be happening, where patterns come from, and how our own choices and behaviour contribute to the results we create.
And once you see a pattern more clearly, you have more opportunity to choose differently.
Why is it so hard to explain?
Because it is an experience. You can understand something in theory, but that is different from living it. You can describe confidence, fear or love, for example, but description alone cannot fully communicate what it feels like to experience them.
Why don’t you share every detail in advance?
Some of the most useful moments come from responding honestly, seeing yourself clearly and not knowing exactly what is coming next. Explaining every moment in advance can encourage people to perform or anticipate an answer rather than experience what is happening for themselves.
The intention is not to keep you in the dark about what you are signing up for. It is to leave room for genuine discovery during the process.
What makes Harlequin different from other workshops?
Many courses offer information or inspiration. The Harlequin Experience is experiential: you participate, examine your thinking and behaviour, and explore how these show up in everyday life. The focus is on developing awareness you can put to use, rather than simply collecting more information.
Is the Harlequin Experience Christian-based?
No. It is a religion-free space. People from different belief systems attend. The focus is on how you think, how you behave, and the results you create—not on asking you to adopt a particular religious belief.
Participants may find that becoming more connected, present and intentional affects how they relate to their own beliefs, but the experience is not designed to replace those beliefs.
BreakThrough & Chalice
How is the Harlequin Experience structured?
The Harlequin Experience consists of two workshops, completed in this order:
Part 1 · BreakThrough
3 evenings + 1 full day
Build awareness of how your thinking works, how behaviour is created, and what patterns may be influencing your life.
Part 2 · Chalice
2 evenings + 2 full days
Build on the foundation from BreakThrough, with a focus on emotional integration—moving beyond understanding and beginning to embody what you have discovered.
When you have completed both BreakThrough and Chalice, you have completed the Harlequin Experience.
Why is it split into two parts?
The process is designed to give you space to understand what you are noticing and then integrate it more deeply. Trying to take everything in at once can feel overwhelming and make it harder to retain or apply what you learn. BreakThrough establishes the foundation; Chalice builds on it.
Why can’t I do Chalice first?
Chalice builds on what you discover in BreakThrough. Completing the first part gives you the foundation for the second. Skipping that first step means missing the groundwork on which Chalice is designed to build.
When have I completed the Harlequin Experience?
You have completed the Harlequin Experience after attending and completing both the BreakThrough Workshop and the Chalice Workshop, in that order. The programme’s attendance and completion requirements also apply; please refer to the current Terms and Conditions for the formal details.
What to Expect
What do you actually do during BreakThrough?
You participate. It is not simply a matter of sitting and listening or taking notes. You take part in guided exercises, engage in conversations, and look at your own thinking and behaviour in real time.
Some moments may feel light and fun; others may be thought-provoking, emotional or a little uncomfortable. The intention is to create opportunities to see something new about yourself.
What kind of insights do people get?
Insights are personal and differ from one participant to another. People may notice patterns in their relationships, recognise a gap between what they say they want and what they do, or see how their own behaviour contributes to outcomes they have been frustrated by.
The value is in noticing what is true for you and deciding what you want to do with that awareness.
Is it intense or emotional?
It can be. You may be looking at real patterns, behaviour and results in your life. The intention is not to break you down; it is to support you in seeing more clearly and finding different ways to move forward.
Your Questions & Concerns
Do I need to be struggling to attend?
Not at all. Some people come because they feel stuck or keep encountering the same patterns. Others come because they know there is more available to them and want to understand themselves better. People arrive for different reasons.
Who is this for?
It may appeal to people who want more from life, are tired of repeating the same patterns, or recognise that they are capable of more and want to explore that possibility.
What if I’m sceptical?
That is okay. You do not need to believe in it in advance. Bring your questions and be willing to experience the process for yourself before deciding what you think of it.
What if I don’t open up easily?
You do not have to be outgoing, share everything or arrive feeling perfectly ready. Some people are quiet; others are more expressive. You can participate as yourself. Follow the facilitators’ guidance and only share what you are comfortable sharing.
What if I’m scared?
It is common to feel some uncertainty before trying something unfamiliar, especially when you think it might challenge you. You do not have to pretend that you are not nervous. Give yourself the opportunity to ask questions and understand what participation involves.
Will I be judged?
The intention is to create an environment where people can understand themselves and grow without competition or a “better than” attitude. Participants come for their own reasons, and respectful participation is important.
What if I’ve already done a lot of personal development?
That can be a useful foundation. Some participants have read books, attended courses or explored other approaches. The focus here is not only on knowing ideas, but on noticing how they show up in your own thinking, behaviour and everyday life.
Change, Relationships & What Comes Next
Will this change me?
The intention is not to turn you into someone else. It is to help you recognise what may be getting in your way and strengthen your ability to make choices that reflect who you want to be. Each person’s experience and results are individual.
How could it change my everyday life?
Awareness can create space between reacting and choosing. Instead of automatically repeating a familiar response, you may begin to notice what is happening, pause, and respond differently. Over time, that can influence decisions, relationships and the results you create.
It is not magic; applying what you discover takes your own continued attention and effort.
Does it affect relationships?
It can influence how you communicate, connect and show up in relationships. Greater awareness may help you bring more honesty into conversations and recognise what is or is not working. Relationship outcomes vary, and greater clarity does not guarantee that every relationship will change in the same way.
Why do people seem different after Harlequin?
People may begin to think differently, respond differently and take responsibility differently after recognising patterns they had not clearly seen before. Change can feel unfamiliar at first, and how it unfolds will differ for each person.
What happens after BreakThrough?
BreakThrough is the first part of the Harlequin Experience. You can continue into the Chalice Workshop, which builds on the foundation from BreakThrough. There may also be opportunities to stay connected and continue building on what you have discovered. Check the current programme information for available support and follow-up options.
Making Your Decision
Do I need to do Harlequin?
No. It is a choice. The question is whether the experience aligns with what you want to explore or change in your life. Take the time you need to understand the programme and decide for yourself.
How do I know if now is the right time?
There may never be a perfectly calm or convenient moment. Rather than waiting for life to become completely settled, consider what you want, what is currently possible for you, and whether you are ready to make time for the experience.
Why is it worth the investment?
The intention is to build awareness and practical ways of approaching your thinking, choices and relationships—areas that can affect many parts of everyday life. Whether it is the right investment for you depends on your priorities, circumstances and willingness to participate and apply what you learn. For current prices and package details, please visit the booking page.
There are other courses. Why Harlequin?
Explore your options and compare them. The distinctive focus of the Harlequin Experience is experiential learning: participating in a process that invites you to notice your own patterns and how they show up in your life, rather than only receiving information.
What if I keep telling myself, “I’ll do the next one”?
It is easy for good intentions to be pushed aside as life gets busy and priorities change. Instead of deciding from pressure or urgency, look at the dates, consider your commitments, and make a deliberate choice about whether this is something you want to prioritise.
