How Can Personal Development Make Me Rich? If you want to make more money and become more successful in life, understanding how your personal patterns influence your decisions may be an important place to start.
If you are already rich and you would like to go to the next level, then this will be the most important article that you ever read.
Would you like to double your income in 12 months or less?
Yes?
Are you prepared to do what it takes to double or triple your income?
Yes?
No?
Let's Talk Money: How Personal Development Influences Financial Success
It is almost considered bad manners to talk about money. Talking about money has become like swearing in public. It is just not done.
However, if we do not speak about money openly, then how will we ever solve the puzzle of having more, when everyone wants more?
Let's get real. We all want more.
More Money
More Influence
More Love
More Freedom
More Sex
More Enjoyment
More Power
Just More.
More Achievement
We use money to get more of these things, and it gives us the freedom to enjoy them all.
Making money is much more than having a job or owning a business. Money goes beyond buying and selling, profit and loss, and margins. It is about your capacity to make money. To see a gap in the market and take it.
It is about taking calculated risks and receiving the big reward.
Are you willing to do what it takes to succeed, or are you willing to die broke?
Are you going to die broke?
This is an important question to ask, no matter what your situation is. This question needs to be answered honestly.
I know that you may not want to face this question or even answer it. There is a part of you that will deny the question and completely avoid the answer.
Because most of us answer this question with hope, and no amount of hope will ever fix this problem. You will need to do something.
Unless you were born into the royal family or have your own hedge fund, you will need to take action to prevent yourself from going broke and becoming financially dependent on others.
A great question to ask now is:
How do I turn hope into certainty?
To Make More Money, You Have to Become the Type of Person Who Makes More Money
You do not make the amount of money that you want to make because you are not ready to make that amount of money. You are not the type of person who takes advantage of the big opportunities.
It is not that opportunities do not exist. It is because you do not take advantage of these opportunities.
Question: Are you ready to take those opportunities?
How Personal Development Can Make You Rich
The world uses money to keep score.
In fact, money gives us a way to measure what something is worth.
In other words, money is a way to quantify your work and the value that you bring to the marketplace.
The more that you increase your value, the more you are worth and the more money you will get in return.
You do not get paid for problems, you get paid for solutions.
Your income will rise and fall to the degree that you get this.
So, the more problems that you can solve, the more you will get paid.
You do not go to the doctor to make you sick, do you? No. You go to the doctor because you have something ailing you and you want him to make you better. You have a problem and he has the solution.
The doctor gets paid very well for this because, when you are sick, his solution is worth a lot to you. This makes him very valuable to anyone with an illness.
The same is true for you. You do not get paid for problems, you get paid for solutions.
The rich simply solve more problems than the poor.
The wealthy have figured out how to turn these solutions into a consistent supply of value which they convert into money.
How many problems do you solve?
You see, you get paid for the value that you bring to the marketplace.
So, How Do I Increase My Value in the Marketplace?
The answer is very simple:
Increase your problem solving abilities. You will also need to improve your negotiation abilities, increase your focus and ultimately, boost your confidence. Of course, there is a lot more to this which I cover in other articles.
This is much easier said than done, because we all think that we know how to solve all of our problems, even in the face of not having everything that we want.
Or better yet, we think that we have no problems and simply deny the evidence.
This is more common than you think, and it is not your fault, because this is not taught in school.
What School Did Not Teach You
There is no degree for this. Have you ever heard of a degree in “Problem Solving”? Neither have I.
School did not teach you how to raise your value. School did not teach you how to increase your self esteem, your self respect or your self confidence, and for sure, school did not teach you how to increase your self worth.
So, how is it even possible to be successful?
Well, school did teach you some important things, like how to read and write, and you gained some experience of what it takes to get yourself to the next level.
However, school did not teach you how to own a company, but it did teach you enough to get a job.
Now, this does not mean that you cannot be successful by having a job. Oh no, we all have a job to do, even the CEO and even the tea lady.
Of course, large corporations are willing to pay big money for the most valuable skills, knowledge and expertise, but it is only those who go beyond this who become really successful.
Only those with the hunger, the thirst and the drive to do more and be more will rise to the top.
Luck Has Little to Do with It
Some say that they are lucky, but luck has very little to do with this.
For the successful, luck is the gap between preparation and execution.
It is only when you take your own destiny into your own hands and do something about your situation that you will be successful.
Often times, it is the unexpected that brings the greatest reward.
Your Limiting Beliefs Are Keeping You Stuck
Your limiting beliefs are keeping you from your success.
Without you being aware of your limiting beliefs, you will never solve this problem. You will be stuck forever. Your limiting beliefs are invisible to you, and you cannot do anything with what you cannot identify.
I’m sure that you can feel it. You know that “something” is holding you back, but what?
You can feel it, but you cannot put your finger on it.
You do not know what it is, because you might think that it is something outside of you. You might think that it is your boss, your job, your spouse, the company or the economic situation, or whatever.
Maybe you just need that one special technique, that one special insight, that magic button that you can press and everything will be solved?
These are just your limiting beliefs talking.
Your limiting beliefs are stopping you from doubling or tripling your income.
I experienced this personally, in my own life and businesses.
Requisite Variety
First of all, limiting beliefs come from limited experience, and this limits your options.
I repeat: This limits your options.
It is time to set yourself free to have the success that you know you deserve.
It is time to stop making a living and start making a life.
If you want to get rid of your limiting beliefs, you will need to gain more experience. You will need to put yourself to the test and commit to your success. You will need to experience more and become more flexible.
To make more money and have a better life, you will need to gain another very important skill: Requisite Variety.
What Is Requisite Variety?
Requisite Variety is your level of flexibility. It is your diversity of options in a given situation.
Above all, Requisite Variety is a key skill to have in business and in your life.
In fact, this is crucial for you to get what you want in all areas of your life.
The more flexibility you have, the harder you can negotiate for a position, a promotion or an investment. This skill is used to strengthen your business relationships and your intimate relationships. The most successful people in the world have this skill.
Without this Requisite Variety or flexibility, even those who, by chance, do become successful often fall and lose it all. The ones without this flexibility suffer and fail to ever make it back again.
Flexible variety can be described as:
- Having multiple options for one challenge and having many solutions to any problem.
- Knowing how to change easily according to the situation.
- The ability to be flexible, or being able to bend without breaking.
Can you see how this will increase your value to your market?
The more variety you have, the more options you have.
The more flexible you are, the more problems you can solve.
The more problems you can solve, the more valuable you are.
The more valuable you are, the more you will get paid.
We do not pay for problems. We pay for solutions.
What is the value that you bring to your marketplace?
If You Refuse to Be Flexible, You May Break
If the situation requires you to be flexible, but you are not, you will suffer. If you are rigid or inflexible, you will not bend, you will break.
This presses a button for many people. When I share this with them, I often get the response: “I’ll show them” or “I’m too tough to break.”
This usually ends very badly for both parties and results more in war than in peace. Neither side gets what they want. In fact, both sides end up losing and suffering the loss.
If this is you, then it will be very tough to deal with when you do not get what you want.
This shows up as a “breakup” of a relationship, the “breakdown” of negotiations, the “break” of a company and a “break” in society, because of the lack of this flexibility. Because of your lack of ability to solve these problems.
An Example of Requisite Variety
If you are running late for an appointment and you know 10 different ways to get there, you could make it on time. If the main route is blocked, you have many different options to take so that you will still arrive on time.
If you do not know many different ways to get to your appointment and you are stuck on that one main route to your destination, you are stuck there until the traffic clears.
If this main route is blocked or slow, you will be late for your appointment and you may even miss your appointment completely.
How many opportunities could you miss if you do not get this part of your life handled? Who knows?
There is an opportunity for you right here, right now.
It is an opportunity for you to go to the next level.
Don’t be late for this appointment. It is too important.
Grab your spot on the next workshop. Don’t miss out.
The time for this is not later. The time is now.
Personal Development, Flexibility and Self Mastery
Personal Development Is the Path to Flexibility
Can you see how Personal Development is the path to your flexibility and diversity?
Can you see how Self Mastery is your path to total freedom?
If you cannot see this yet, then you are more stuck than you realise.
If you cannot see how your personal development can make you rich, then you are trapped. You are trapped in your own rigid thinking, and there will be a breakdown. I have seen this so many times.
If you are smart, you will connect the dots and see what this can do for you.
The Harlequin Experience
The Harlequin Experience is special, because it is not just personal development.
The Harlequin Experience is Deep Inner Transformation.
It is Premium Personal Development. It is one of South Africa’s longest-running self-mastery programmes, since 1989.
This Programme tests you and shows you how to be flexible. It opens your mind to brand new possibilities. It shows you what you may be missing and gives you what you need to fill the gap.
Through the workshop, you will discover so many ways to create value that you have never considered before that it will leave you speechless.
You get step by step, how-to charts to navigate through the difficulty, with individual coaching and Q&A for maximum results.
You will get a stack of brand new ideas and opportunities, with so many options and possibilities, it will blow your mind.
The Harlequin Experience is a complete Self Mastery Programme.
The Lack of Money Is Not the Lack of Opportunity
The lack of money is not because of the lack of opportunities or resources. It is because of the lack of being resourceful and not seizing the opportunity.
I see this so often when my clients do the following:
- Fail to see opportunity.
- Notice an opportunity and fail to act on it.
- Think that the opportunity is just too risky.
- Wait too long.
- Wait until everything gets worse.
- Have no flexibility.
- Think about it, but do not follow through.
- Make excuses rather than progress.
In short, it is not about resources. It is all about being resourceful.
Therefore, to become the type of person who makes more money, you have to work on yourself.
Then, when you’re ready to make more money, you will.
Bonus Lessons from “Being a Millionaire”
Some bonus material for you. I have included a few lessons from “Being a Millionaire”.
These are habits of highly successful peak performers and these are the components to their success.
Habit Number 3: Be Proactive
This means having the ability to control or create a situation rather than just responding to it after the event has happened.
This basically means that you need to be a forward thinker. Having the ability to think about what is coming and then anticipate the future is critical.
When it comes to money, this skill is priceless.
How many very large organisations have gone under because they did not anticipate the future? How many organisations have been devoured by small start ups because they did not adapt early enough and thought that they were too big to fail?
Similarly, humans do the same thing in their lives. We do not move, we do not look to the future, and we are not proactive.
We wait.
We wait for someone else to fix the problem. We wait until the problem or the situation becomes too unbearable, and then we do something.
My suggestion is simple: do not wait.
If you do the work upfront, you will never worry about money again.
This is how the big corporations and highly successful, rich entrepreneurs make their billions.
Simply put, they are proactive. They anticipate what the world markets will want and need in the near future, and they go about making it for us.
I personally witnessed the innovation of 3G mobile technology five years before it was released to the public. Five years before it became common knowledge.
I wonder what is going on now that we will only know about in another five years.
The world is moving so fast. There will be jobs in five years that do not even exist at the moment.
It is said that the majority of university attendees are studying for jobs that will no longer exist once they graduate.
Being Proactive Works Everywhere
Being proactive is a skill that you can use everywhere, in your business, your relationships and your health.
Imagine having the ability to predict an argument with your spouse days before it occurs and then avoiding it?
Imagine being able to predict a turn in the market and adjust course in your job or business to avoid being retrenched, fired or having the company go belly up?
This is definitely a skill that I learned through personal development, and a skill that you will learn through the Harlequin Experience.
In a way, your future depends on it.
A Message from the Rich and Famous
Now let’s hear what Warren Buffett has to say about investing in yourself.
Warren Buffett has described investing in yourself as the best investment you can make. As reported by Investopedia in June 2026, Buffett said:
“The best investment, by far, is anything that develops yourself.”
Think about that for a moment.
Clearly, one of the most successful investors in the world recognises the value of developing your own abilities. Your skills, your knowledge and your ability to create value can become some of your greatest assets.
Tony Robbins and Jim Rohn
Anthony Robbins is a brilliant example of this.
There was a time when Tony Robbins was struggling financially and trying to survive. By the age of 17, he was working as a janitor and facing hardship.
Everything shifted when Tony met his mentor, Jim Rohn.
At 17, Tony invested nearly a week’s pay to attend Rohn’s seminar. There, he learned the power of personal growth and self education. Rohn’s message was simple:
“Don’t wish it was easier, wish you were better.”
As a result, Tony came to believe that by changing himself, he could change his life.
From there, he went from working as a janitor to running a Beverly Hills office at 18, gaining experience in leadership, sales and business.
The workshop taught Robbins that the most important work he could ever do in his life was to work on himself.
The Power of Personal Development
Tony Robbins went from working as a janitor to becoming a multimillionaire by sharing what he used to become successful: personal development.
If you are still a doubter, watch one of his live events or programmes and see how he works with people to create change. This stuff just works.
Robbins also spoke to Tim Ferriss, another well known author, about the importance of investing in yourself. Robbins agrees with the principle that investing in yourself is one of the most important investments you can make in your life.
All of these successful people, Tony, Warren, Tim, Richard, Jim, Earl, Mary Anne, Jack, John and many others, point to the importance of investing in yourself.
Investing in your personal development is one of the best investments you can make.
Indeed, there is no financial investment that can replace the value of developing your skills, abilities, insight and capacity. These are the things that can help you create greater economic freedom.
Do not take my word for it. Take theirs. They clearly know what they are talking about.
For example, personal development gave me what I needed to get out of the corporate world and “retire” at 28.
I am a walking, living, breathing product of what I do.
I am not saying this to be the example or to brag. No, I do not want you to be like me. I want you to be you, the best version of you.
Is This Real, and Can You Trust It?
I am simply saying this because I know that people want proof. You may be sceptical, and you should be.
There is a lot of rubbish out there. It has become common practice to sell snake oil, full of empty promises. They talk a big game, but all you get is smoke and mirrors.
There are some personal development programmes that cause damage, and I have had to repair a lot of that damage.
In the back of your mind, you are looking for proof. You are looking for certainty. You want to know if this is real, and you are looking for evidence.
You want to know if I care about you and whether this will work for you.
I care more than you know.
I want you to succeed. I want you to be happy. I want your life to work for you.
This programme works. This system and methodology work. It works to the degree that you use it. It has worked for me, and I believe it can work for you when you put it into practice.
Taking Action and Getting Your Financial Life in Order
Yes, This Is for You
Yes, this is definitely for you.
Yes, you can do this.
Personal development is a surefire way to increase your advantage.
There are so many more ways for you to make more money and double or even triple your income.
If you would like to go deeper into this, you can book a consultation with me. I will take you through the ways you can improve your skills and make more money.
Get Your Financial Life in Order
If you do not get your financial life in order soon, the reality is that you may never get a chance to retire or even sit back and enjoy the fruits of your lifelong labour.
I am very sure that nobody starts out wanting to stand at a busy intersection in the blistering sun, waiting for someone to take pity on them and give them a handout. It is an appalling situation for anyone to be in, and it is something we should work to prevent.
If you do get your financial life in order, you will be able to do the most important things in your life. You will have the freedom to do what you want, go where you would like to go and spend time with the people you want to be around.
Working on yourself can help you challenge the limiting beliefs that are preventing you from achieving the success you desire.
Take the Next Step
If you would like to explore how personal development could support your growth, book a consultation or explore the Harlequin Experience.
The first step is to decide that you are ready to do something different.
Money Is Important
Clearly, making money is such an important factor in modern life.
It gives you the ability to do more and have more.
Without money, it is very hard to achieve certain goals in your life.
There is a belief out there that money is not spiritual. I tell you what, there is nothing spiritual about being poor. Some of the richest people on the planet are spiritual leaders. Do not tell me that money is not important.
Money is not the be all and end all of everything. No, it is not. But let us not make the mistake of thinking that money is not important.
In addition, money gives you the resources to contribute. It gives you the ability to become a leader.
Money carries a message, and my message to you is this: I want you to make a lot of money. I want you to contribute. I want our entire country to become rich and never have a recession again.
If you do not get this area of your life handled, you may struggle to achieve the things you want and spend time with the people you would like to be associated with.
If you do not have money, you may not have the influence you desire.
You may not have the power to change certain things in your life.
Without money, you may not have all the physical possessions you want.
Without money, you may struggle to find the certainty and significance you so desperately crave.
What Money Makes Possible
When you have a lot of money, you can gain a sense of certainty and liberty.
In other words, you have the ability to buy what you want without having to think about every purchase.
Money can help you access the right situations and places and get around the people you want to meet.
With money, you can gain status and the ability to affect the world around you. You can also provide for your family and loved ones.
There are many advantages to being rich.
When you have a lot of money, you may be able to afford better homes, cars, clothes and food. You may also have more freedom to choose how you spend your time and whom you spend it with.
Money is being printed for you constantly, right now. Make sure you take hold of yours today.
Money is a tool that allows you to become more of who you are.
Stop “coping”. Stop “surviving”. Start “thriving”.
Being Rich Begins with Your Mindset
Ultimately, being rich is really a state of mind, more than it is a Rand or Dollar amount.
Your mindset influences whether you see yourself as capable of creating wealth or remain stuck in patterns that limit you.
Do not fool yourself into thinking that justifying why you do not want money makes you rich. It can keep you from pursuing the opportunities available to you. Stop that.
Have You Ever Felt This?
- Have you ever wondered why you are not making as much money as you would like to?
- Have you ever been overlooked for a promotion?
- Have you ever felt anxious about a job or a position?
- Have you ever walked into an interview and felt the pressure of being questioned?
- Have you ever felt under pressure in an enclosed space?
- Has the pressure to perform in your job ever caused you to work extra long hours?
- Have you ever felt that your manager or boss was being unfair, blaming you for everything that went wrong?
- Have you ever been the boss and felt that you were not respected, or that you were being undermined and stabbed in the back? Why?
If you have experienced any of the above, then you may need to look into personal development to address these challenges.
These feelings are not always caused by your job, your boss, your money or other external factors. They can also be influenced by your internal state and by what these situations mean to you.
Moreover, these feelings do not automatically disappear because you earn a degree or receive a job title. The irony is that they may not disappear even when you are rich or financially free.
Your Inner World Comes First
Greater self confidence, self esteem and self respect can make a difference. These qualities come from knowing who you are and understanding the value you bring.
Look at some of the most successful people around the world. Many have these qualities and understand their importance. With these qualities, they may be better equipped to rebuild their fortunes if circumstances change.
I often have conversations with very smart people who have amazing ideas for generating income. Some of these ideas could be worth millions, but they never get launched because the people behind them lack the self confidence to execute their ideas and pursue their financial freedom.
If you really want to take your life and your income to another level, you need to get your internal world handled.
Can you tell that improving your inner skills has the biggest impact on improving your earning potential?
Be Competitive with Previous Versions of Yourself
There are so many ways that the Harlequin Experience can support you in making more money. I could write a very thick book on them. I know that you are hungry for more, so here is another one.
Be competitive with yourself. That’s right, with yourself.
Do you think that Usain Bolt would ever have broken the 100 metre sprint record if he had not been in competition with himself?
The same can be said for Michael Jordan, Elon Musk and Bill Gates. They do not stop. For them, it is a game of constant improvement.
They know that if they slow down or stop, they will be overtaken and dropped from the race. There comes a time when there is no other competition left besides themselves.
The same is also true for you.
Be competitive with yourself.
Spend Time with People Who Are Ahead of You
Spend at least a third of your time with people who are better than you, who are smarter than you and who have what you want.
Associate yourself with people who have solved the problems you have now and the problems you may face in the future. This will help you solve those problems upfront and avoid crashes in the future.
In the end, this will really set you apart from the crowd.
It is all about being:
- Focused
- Driven
- Dedicated
- Persistent
- Flexible
- Tracking your own growth
- Always learning
Of course, there are things to do in the physical world, and there is so much more. At least you have realised that your highest leverage is in your head. In your thoughts.
Think, Then Act
One of the most famous books on this subject is Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill, and his message is clear.
The more you think and act on that thinking, the more successful you can become. Acting on it is the key.
The more you think about ways to improve, the more you will improve. The more you learn, the more you can learn.
After all, learning produces ideas, and good ideas are like rabbits. They multiply.
The more you learn, the more you earn.
You Need a Method, a System, a Strategy
You need a method, a system, a strategy.
We all need a how.
Talking about concepts and philosophy is great, but how do you actually do it?
You need to get down to the nitty gritty.
You need to get to the doing, and we all need a how-to.
The Harlequin Experience: Your How-To
For the purpose of this article, the Harlequin Experience is the how-to.
It is more than a how to. It is a direct experience and practice of these concepts.
When it comes to personal development, the Harlequin Experience is the best system, strategy and method I have encountered. This work started in 1989, and over the years, it has been refined and improved.
I have introduced learning and teaching methods that incorporate all four learning styles: visual, auditory, reading and writing, and kinesthetic. By combining information with practical experience, participants have opportunities to engage with the material in different ways and begin applying what they learn before they leave the workshop room.
What Our Members Tell Us
I am astounded by our results each and every time.
After every workshop, the feedback we receive goes beyond our expectations.
We are constantly blown away by our members. Hearing their stories about how they have used the skills they gained through the process is amazing.
From improving their relationships and becoming better fathers, mothers and parents, to becoming better bosses, employees and business owners, our members share stories of change across many areas of life.
If this experience could save your company or your job, would that be worth it?
Would you pay R10 an hour to get a R1000 worth of value in return? Of course you would, any clever or smart person would.
Your Next Step
I truly wish the best for you and our country. I want you to succeed.
We are confident in the results we produce, and we want you to have the opportunity to experience the Harlequin Experience for yourself.
We have created different package options to suit different needs, with additional benefits included in the packages.
Do not sit around and think about this for too long.
Places are limited, and the longer you wait, the more you risk missing the opportunity.
Choose your package and book your seat on the next Harlequin Experience.
I look forward to seeing you soon.
